Did you get locked out of the Indianapolis Mini Marathon?
I did. I still wanted to run
the 13.1 miles so I decided to put on my own race to do so.
The fifth running of the Anti-Mini will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 7:25 AM (same date
and five minutes earlier than the Indy Mini) at the picnic table next to the
parking lot at
Nancy
Burton
Park
(on
Starkey Road
in
Zionsville
,
IN
). The course is the old Zionsville
Boys Cross Country 5k course (modified to include the ramp and not the hill) run
4 times (and part of a 5th time on the straight-a-way). You may
choose to run one loop (3.1 miles), two loops (6.2 miles), 3 loops (9.3 miles)
or the whole thing. It is run on all dirt paths and runs through
Nancy
Burton
Park
and
Starkey
Park
. There is no entry fee.
There are no awards or tee shirts. There
are no aid stations (although you may bring your own water, Gatorade etc. and
visit it every 3.1 miles at the picnic table).
There are no restroom facilities (hit the head before coming).
If it is wet, expect a bunch of mud and a very slippery wooden ramp from
Nancy Burton Park down to Starkey Park.

Directions to the
Zionsville Anti-Mini Marathon
The
entrance to our parking lot is just one block east of the Ford Road and Oak
Street (State Road 334) intersection in Zionsville. Please park in the back
(north) parking lot of the Zionsville Town
Hall at 1100 W. Oak Street (across from McDonald’s).
Ted
Schrader put together a really nice link to the parking and a map of the run at
this link Anti
Mini Map It also has some links to Zionsville
eateries and shops.
There is a rail-trail next to the shelter in the parking lot. From
the shelter, follow the signs by going south on the trail (right turn).
The start/finish line is less than 1/2 mile south of the parking lot (give
yourself enough time to walk to the start). You should be parked and on
your way with your water in hand before 7:15 AM if you are going to make the start. If you come
late, we will be gone. Just write your name on the clipboard sheet and
remember to put in your distance and time when you finish. Follow the
trail marked with Green circles on the trail
markers.
